The eYouth Project aims to empower young people by developing their digital media, communication and collaborative skills.

 

This has been made possible by a collaboration between the Wyndham City and the Werribee campus of Victoria University Polytechnic, the eYouth project is funded by an Empower Grant from the Victorian State Government until the end of December 2019.

 

The aim of the grant is to work holistically with young people in the areas of:

  • Health & Wellbeing

  • Connection Involvement & Participation

  • Training & Education

  • Careers Pathways 

 

Young people who join the eYouth Crew will be trained and gain skills in leadership, creative arts, media and project management.

 

The eYouth project is for creative and artistic young people aged 16 to 25 that have the following connection to the City Of Wyndham:

 

  • Recreate 

  • Work

  • Study

  • Live

 

Young people who join the Project will join a creative community of young people from across Wyndham.  Art will be used to highlight the voice of young people by being involved in creative art-based projects, workshops and events with the aim to support young people to reconnect with education.

The eYouth Project  has two groups:

 

eYouth Crew 

 

The eYouth Leadership Crew is for young people aged 16-25 who have skills in:

 

  • Performance 

  • Graphic Design

  • Animation

  • YouTube creators 

  • Music

  • Podcasting 

 

The eYouth Crew will meet weekly for up to 12 months in order to develop creative arts-based projects with each group of eYouth Students.  There are two recruitment cycles for the eYouth Crew over three years of the project.

eYouth Crew:

  • Help run website/ blog

  • Social media pages

  • Run Workshops

  • Share news, stories and learning from the Project. 

  • Plan events and workshops

eYouth Project Students 

 

The eYouth project students are 16 to 25 years old, who are looking to re-engage in education with an interest in Digital Media and Technology. They enrol in the Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology at Victoria University Polytechnic Werribee Campus.

 

The course runs for 6 months with classes 3 days a week from 11 am to 5 pm:

 

  • Tuesday

  • Wednesday

  • Thursday

  • Plus online study for one day a week

 

Class One:        July - December 2018 

Class Two:         February - June 2019     

Class Three:      April - September 2019    

Class Three:      July - December 2019  

 

Project Students get to go on excursions to the Art Centre for workshops and performance.

 

During the Certificate II young people will be given workshops from eYouth Crew as they share their skills in Digital Media Software and then supporting young people develop their skills in using the software to create a project that helps share the voice of young people from across Wyndham.
